Who We Are
An average of 1,500 teens from across Middle Tennessee participate in Rocketown programs each week to enjoy a coffee bar; photography, art and dance studios; creative arts classes and workshops; venues for live entertainment; and Nashville’s only indoor skatepark.
We never turn away anyone who is unable to pay; approximately 40% of the youth are underwritten through our scholarship program.
Rocketown moved to downtown Nashville in 2003 and relocated to Fourth Avenue South in 2010, which has allowed us to create programs for youth that are positive and appealing to youth while rooted in Christian principles.
- Rocketown offers after-school and summer camp programs with classes in areas such as songwriting, audio engineering, hip-hop dance, guitar lessons, breakdancing, sketching, painting, mixed media art, photography, and video editing/production, and journalism. Small class sizes allow students to learn a craft and express themselves while being mentored by caring and experienced adults.
- RE-ACT (Reinforcing Education for Artistic and Creative Thinkers) is a free program designed to help develop math, science and reading comprehension skills of low-income students by connecting education with music, art and leadership development.
- Rocketown Rep is a leadership group of representatives from area junior and senior high schools that gives teens a voice at Rocketown. They learn leadership skills, participate in mandatory hours of monthly community service, develop and promote events, and create and manage communication methods to reach other teens. These students are given training in making positive choices and influencing others.
- Rocketown offers free individual, family and group counseling five days a week. Centerstone-certified counselors help youths and their families work through personal and relational issues, helping them transform obstacles into healthy, productive life skills.
- All-ages Music Venue provides safe and supervised after-school and weekend entertainment. Open Mic Nights and Battle of the Bands provide platforms for aspiring artists to showcase their passions and learn how to professionally promote themselves.
- Sixth Avenue Skatepark is Nashville’s only indoor skatepark. It features ramps for BMX bikes, inline skates, and skateboarding. Skate programs include regular competitions recognizing skater improvements. The skatepark also provides clinics, classes, professional demonstrations, as well as Skatechurch, a weekly Bible study and discussion group.
